FEATURE GEAR | CORRECT TOES | WEARABLE TOE SPACERS | HEALTH & PERFORMANCE

Written by Dr. Mark Cucuzzella and Paul Koczera

Plantar fasciitis, bunions, bunionettes, hammer toes, turf toe, the list goes on for dysfunction in the almighty feet of the human body. If you are someone with foot discomfort, pain, or injury due to structural weakness in the feet, especially in the front of the foot, then Correct Toes may be a good option for you to try. Personally, we (Dr. Mark and I) have had years of success using Correct Toes. I went from having misshapen, weak, and unstable feet to having feet that are once again strong, stable, and widest at the toes (like when I was kid never wearing shoes). My adaption was much like the change seen in the picture below from Norbert Petras.

While I didn't have any diagnosed dysfunction in my feet at the time, I certainly had discomfort and pain. I would routinely have to soak my feet in ice baths, epson salt, and tiger balm after getting home from working on my feet all day. I haven't had to use any of those treatments in the past five years, and I can work all day on my feet without issue. Dr. Mark, on the other hand, was diagnosed at an early age with some arthritis in his big toe joints, which led him to have surgery on both feet. After surgery his ability to walk and run was continuing to decrease, until he began using Correct Toes in his lifestyle shoes as well as his running shoes.

Now for the miracle workers, "anatomical toe spacers designed by sports podiatrist, Dr. Ray McClanahan. The only toe spacer that can be worn barefoot or inside approved footwear, while being active." - Correct Toes website.

I like gear that serves the user in the most practical of ways. A head-lamp for instance, provides light as a flashlight would, but it is more practical because it frees up both hands. Being able to wear a tool in my shoes that improves the health of my feet during an 8 to 9 hour work day is incredibly practical. It is like my feet get to be at the gym while the rest of my body is at work. Correct Toes will forever be in our Gear Box. Try them out!
